FIELD: transportation.

SUBSTANCE: method of identifying undesirable conditions for the tank floating roof operation includes determining the level of filling the tank with a product; detecting the reference (basic) distance between the reference position on the roof and said surface using a level indicator mounted on the roof; determining the reference distance deviation as the difference between said reference distance and expected value, and the comparing the reference distance deviation to the specified range. If the reference distance deviation is outside the specified range, the data set including the above reference range deviation and said filling level is saved in the memory. These steps are repeated for a plurality of time points, and then the undesired condition is identified by means of data sets of deviations reference distances and filling levels, saved in the memory. Said method is implemented by means of the appropriate control system for identifying the undesirable condition and the monitoring system, both equipped with the appropriate interface.

EFFECT: possibility to diagnose the tank floating roof in order to identify emergency situations.
