SUBSTANCE: images processing method includes receiving a sequence of input images; selecting an appropriate set of values of the function parameter for the display function from a plurality of a suitable sets of the function parameter values; dividing each input image into image blocks; compiling a set of image blocks from said image blocks having a non-zero standard deviation in the pixel values for the input image in the sequence of the input images; generating displayed image blocks by means of applying the display function with a suitable set of the function parameter values to the pixel values in the set of image blocks in the input image; determining for each displayed image block the standard deviation of pixel values in said block; determining on the basis of the comparison between the number of the displayed image blocks with a non-zero standard deviation and the number of image blocks in said set, whether a suitable set of the function parameter values is optimal for the display function for displaying the input image.
EFFECT: increased coding efficiency.
