FIELD: separation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an exhaust system for a compression ignition engine (diesel engine) which includes an oxidation catalyst, in particular a diesel oxidation catalyst, and to a vehicle with an exhaust system. Diesel oxidation catalyst for treatment of exhaust gas from a diesel engine, wherein the oxidation catalyst comprises a first zone comprising a platinum group metal (PGM) component selected from the group consisting of a platinum (Pt) component and a combination of a platinum component (Pt) and a palladium component (Pd); alkaline earth metal component, component comprising magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), strontium (Sr), barium (Ba), or a combination of two or more thereof; support material containing aluminum oxide doped with silica; and a second zone comprising a platinum group metal (PGM) component selected from the group consisting of a platinum (Pt) component, palladium component (Pd), and a combination thereof; and a substrate that is a flow monolith; and wherein the first zone and the second zone are located on the substrate, first zone being upstream of the second zone and the first zone being different in composition from the second zone; total amount of the alkaline-earth metal component is 10-500 g⋅foot-3; and if the first zone contains a component that is a combination of the platinum component (Pt) and palladium component (Pd), then the first zone has mass ratio of the platinum component (Pt) to the palladium component (Pd) > 2:3. Exhaust system for a diesel engine includes the described diesel oxidation catalyst and at least one device for reducing exhaust toxicity. Method for treating carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HCs) in exhaust gas from a diesel engine comprises contacting the exhaust gas with said diesel catalyst.
EFFECT: technical result is preparation of oxidation catalysts showing improved catalytic activity without increasing the total amount of platinum and palladium, which are able to meet the standards for permissible emissions of pollutants in exhaust gases from motor engines and which are cost-effective.
