FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: system comprises a diesel oxidation catalyst with a diameter of 2.5 to 15 inches and a length of 2.5 to 15 inches, and an additional treatment device arranged downstream of the diesel oxidation catalyst, which requires periodic heat treatment, and means for increased temperature generation in the additional treatment device. Diesel oxidation catalyst comprises a zone located upstream and a catalyst composition contaning platinum and palladium applied onto a carrier, and has platinum concentration higher than platinum concentration of in the remaining part of the diesel oxidation catalyst. The length of the zone located upstream is 0.5 to 1.75 inches, and it has higher oxidizing activity towards hydrocarbons than the rest of the diesel oxidation catalyst, at that, the carrier is a flow-through monolith.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of diesel oxidation catalyst in the regeneration activation system.
