FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: coating is a complex nitride of titanium, zirconium, hafnium, vanadium, niobium and tantalum (TiZrNbVHfTa)N with a stable single-phase structure. The total number of Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta coating elements is from 40 to 70 at%, the rest is nitrogen. The proportion of each of Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta coating elements is at least 4 at.%.
EFFECT: increased reliability and durability of the cutting tool at high processing speeds.
