PATIENT INTERFACE WITH VARIABLE APPLANATION Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC A61F9/09

Abstract RU 2621592 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: variable-applanation patient interface comprises: a lens holder system, which can be attached to the distal end of the ophthalmic surgical laser system; a contact lens supported by the lens holder system adapted to contact with the eye surface; and an adjustable clamp connected to the lens holder system and with the contact lens adapted to form a sealing contact with the eye surface. At that, the variable-applanation patient interface is adapted to: connect to the off-center area of the eye, accommodate a contact lens to contact the central area of the eye surface with central applanation, accommodate a contact lens to contact the extended area of the eye surface, exceeding the central area with expanded applanation. Moreover, the contact lens ensures contact with the central area of the eye surface, allowing the ophthalmic surgical laser system to perform at least one of surgical cataract removal, capsulotomy, lens lysis, photodegradation and eye lens dissection; and the contact lens ensures contact with the expanded area of the eye surface, allowing the ophthalmic surgical laser system to perform at least one of limbal laxative sections, arcuate incisions, dissection of access to the anterior chamber, dissection of entrance to the anterior chamber, grafts cutting and corneal refractive surgery. The adjustable clamp comprises adjustment means or positioning mechanism configured to adjust for lens holder system position changing relative to the adjustable clamp to chane lens applanation with respect to the eye surface, and the adjustable clamp is configured to switch between central applanation and extended applanation of the contact lens without disconnection of the said clamp from noncentral eye surface area.

EFFECT: increased accuracy and effectiveness of cataract surgery.
