METHOD OF DETERMINING MARINE UNDERWATER FLOW SPEED Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC G01P5/00

Abstract RU 2622460 C1

FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: uniformly rectilinearly moving underwater vehicle at a given depth maneuvers in a horizontal plane in speed. The relative speed, course and drift angle are measured before and after the maneuvering of the underwater vehicle and the parameters of the flow vector are calculated. Another essence is that, when maneuvering along the course, the magnitude and direction of the relative velocity are fixed, when the increment of the drift angle changes the algebraic sign, and the drift angle assumes the maximum value corresponding to the relative velocity, which determines the parameters of the flow vector. The technical result achieved in the implementation of the developed technical solution is to provide the ability to carry out measurements at any geographical latitudes and depths of the water area, including the underwater and under-ice space of the Arctic aquatorium, high performance in large-scale studies covering large areas and various depths. Autonomy and technical and economic efficiency are provided, due to the exclusion of high-cost work on the production, installation and maintenance of moored buoys and stationary buoy stations and external measuring and observing means.

EFFECT: expanding the functional capabilities.
