SUBSTANCE: method includes receiving by electronic means of material presentation description (MPD) from network. MPD describes multimedia content that includes alternative presentations of multiple types of reproduced material, and MPD includes information indicating how alternative presentations are coded. The method also includes selecting one of a plurality of alternative presentations for at least one of plurality of types of reproduced material based on information included in MPD, requesting the selected one of plurality of alternative presentations in fragmentary manner, and electronically receiving fragment of reproduced data.
EFFECT: transmission enhancement.
