SUBSTANCE: method is carried out by use of a system of report creation in a spreadsheet that contains: a CPU and a memory with instructions that require the CPU to generate: a data sources module programmed to identify sources of data elements associated with a spreadsheet, an activity module programmed to generate a report that includes a data elements portion associated with a spreadsheet, and determine which of data elements are associated with a report, and a display module programmed to display a fields subwindow to modify a report, wherein a fields subwindow includes "Active" tab and "All" tab, and "Active" tab displays the data elements which are defined as associated with a report, and "All" tab displays all data elements associated with a spreadsheet.
EFFECT: provision of contextually relevant data to user when generating reports.
