Method comprises the step of receiving video data carried in a bit stream represented as a plurality of pictures including one or more pictures of clean random access (CRA) or one or more pictures with a broken link access (BLA). Further, according to the method, reception of a message indicating the value of variable UseAltCpbParamsFlag from an external device is carried out, wherein the variable UseAltCpbParamsFlag indicates whether to use an alternate set of coded pictures buffer (CPB) for at least one of one or more CRA pictures or one or more BLA pictures.
