FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: test sample is placed between the emitter and the ultrasonic oscillation receiver, an electric signal of a certain frequency and duration is applied from the generator to the said ultrasonic oscillator, followed by receiving the ultrasonic oscillations transmitted by the receiver with the measurement of their propagation velocity and the attenuation coefficient depending on the distance between the surfaces of the emitter and the receiver, for each particular test sample, with further conversion to electronic signal with an amplitude that depends on the properties of the sample. Simultaneously with the feeding and reception of ultrasonic vibrations by an electronic caliper, the thickness of the sample is measured, then the constants are determined for a polymer of the same grade at a given measurement frequency and the thickness of the test sample, after which the hardness of the polymer is determined according to a given mathematical formula.
