FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: measurements are made in the inertial controlled mode of the platform motion relative to the vertical axis and the inertial mode relative to two or one of the horizontal axes. Before starting the measurement, the platform is leveled by the accurate driving system and roughly set and held in the desired initial position in azimuth. Then the platform holding system in azimuth and the platform accurate driving system into the horizon on two or one of the horizontal axes, are switched off, and the settlement signals, that increase the speed and angle of the platform rotation in azimuth, are fed to the sensor of the azimuth gyro unit moments. The azimuth of the platform reference position is determined by processing the signals from the accelerometers on the changing visible platform drifts relative to one or two horizontal axes, as well as the information about the visible drifts in azimuth and the rotation angles of the platform stabilizing gyro systems relative to one or two horizontal axes.

EFFECT: extending the functionality by providing the possibility of determining the azimuthal position of the gyro-stabilized platform in terms of azimuth base offsets, reducing the time and improving the accuracy of determining the azimuth.
