FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: high voltage electrostatic generator comprises of a node of conductive concentric half shells (10) separated by an equatorial gap (14) with a cylindrical symmetry about the axis (A-A). Close to the equatorial gap (14) the edge regions (16) of, at least, a selected subset of the half shells (20) are made of a form, in which the edge regions of radially outer half shells (106, 116) of the subset are expanded radially away from the axis and the edge regions ( 16) of radially inner half shells (101, 111) of the subset are expanded radially inwardly so that the flared edge regions are actually parallel lines (18) of equal electrostatic potentials near these edge regions (16).

EFFECT: reduced electrostatic voltage in the vicinity of the expanding edge area.
