FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the internal combustion engines. Method for an engine comprises determining the state of partial oxidation of a catalytic converter on the basis of the reaction rates of each of the group of oxidising agents containing NOx, O2, H2O and CO2 exhaust gas compounds and groups of reducing agents containing CO, HC, H2, H2O exhaust gas compounds, throughout the catalytic converter, a one-dimensional model averaged over space and time, and mass balance and energy balance equations for the fluid phase and thin coating of the catalytic converter. Amount of fuel injection is adjusted based on the partial oxidation state. Versions of the method for the engine and system for the engine are disclosed.
EFFECT: reducing toxic emissions by maintaining the catalytic converter in the desired partial oxidation state.
