SUBSTANCE: method for discharging exhaust gases from the engine includes adjusting, with the aid of a first controller, associated with the sensors and actuators, the amount of fuel injection based on fractional oxidation state of the catalytic converter. Said state of partial oxidation is based on the reaction rates of a plurality of exhaust gas species throughout the longitudinal axis of the catalytic converter and a set of axially-averaged mass balance and energy balance equations for the fluid phase and the washcoat of the catalytic converter. Also, said partial oxidation state is based on a separate feedback from the downstream fuel/air ratio sensor. Disclosed are the variants of the method for emitting exhaust gases from the engine.
EFFECT: improved emission control by maintaining the catalytic converter in the required partial oxidation state.
