FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: gas-discharge VUV-lamp contains a hermetically sealed cylindrical glass case filled with inert gas or a mixture of inert gases under reduced pressure, a VUV-emission window sealed to the glass case, a hollow ceramic insulator configured as a cylinder and installed between the radiation output window and the lamp end, electrodes for creating a glow discharge, installed inside the insulator and connected to the metal washers 5 and 6 protruding from the case. Washers, used to connect to the source of electrical power, are covered with an insulating coating. The hollow ceramic insulator is made of a material having a coefficient of thermal expansion equal to the coefficient of thermal expansion of the metal, from which the washers are made. The metal washer in the area of its placement in the cavity between the outer wall of the ceramic insulator and the inner surface of the cylindrical glass case, is made with an insulating coating of a material, the coefficient of linear thermal expansion of which is consistent with the coefficient of linear thermal expansion of the metal, from which the washers are made, and the insulation coating is also applied to the adjacent outer parts of the hollow ceramic insulator.

EFFECT: excluding the breakdown between the lamp electrodes outside the hollow ceramic insulator, which allows to improve the performance of the lamp, increasing its service life and reducing the size of the lamp.
