FIELD: food industry.
SUBSTANCE: chewing gum contains at least 50% by weight of a polymer, less than 40% by weight of the mixture of the bulk-forming agent and the filler, and has the product density of less than 0.60 g/cm3. A method for manufacturing chewing gum is also proposed. The method includes the stages of introducing into the extruder the ingredients with at least one polymer, introducing into the extruder liquid carbon dioxide in the supercritical state; mixing the ingredients and carbon dioxide in the supercritical state in the extruder. The mixture is then extruded with obtaining low-density chewing gum. In another version, the chewing gum comprises at least 60% by weight of the polymer, less than 30% by weight of the mixture of the bulk-forming agent and the filler, and has the product density of less than 0.60 g/cm3.
EFFECT: invention allows to obtain chewing gum with the low density, but with the same amount of chewing gum residue as in conventional chewing gums; this allows the consumer to consume fewer calories while preserving the same chewing sensations as while using traditional chewing gum.
