FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: device for contactless measuring the wire diameter contains a metal tube placed coaxially therewith, coaxial with it, made of three sections, the first and the second of which have the same internal diameter, and the third section located between them on the measuring portion of the wire has a smaller internal diameter. In the third section, electromagnetic oscillations are excited both in the open cavity resonator. The device also includes an electronic unit for excitation in the cavity resonator and removal of electromagnetic oscillations and measurement of the resonance frequency of electromagnetic oscillations electrically connected via the communication line and the coupling element to the cavity resonator. The frequency of the excited electromagnetic oscillations is chosen to be less than the critical excitation frequency of electromagnetic waves in the wire sections with sections of a metal pipe with the same internal diameter.
EFFECT: invention allows to expand the functionality of the process of measuring the wire thickness.
