FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measuring technology and can be used for non-contact measurement of the wire diameter of both the finished product and itself still being produced. A device for measuring the diameter of a wire containing a metal pipe placed coaxially with it outside the wire, made of three sections, on one of which, located on the measuring section of the wire, electromagnetic vibrations are excited as in a volume resonator open from the ends, an electronic unit electrically connected by means of a communication line and a communication element with a volume resonator, for excitation in the volume resonator and removal of electromagnetic vibrations and measurement of the resonant frequency of electromagnetic vibrations, each of the sections of the metal pipe with a wire on both sides of the measuring section is an out-of-bounds waveguide for the frequencies of electromagnetic vibrations excited in a volumetric resonator, contains on each of these two sections a metal plane located inside the metal pipe along it, connected along the entire length with the inner surface of the pipe and having a width narrowing the cross-section of the pipe with a wire located coaxially with it.
EFFECT: expansion of functionality.
