FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and can be used for non-contact measurement of inner diameter of metal pipes as ready products and during their production. Essence of the disclosed solution lies in the fact that in the disclosed method of measuring the inner diameter of a metal pipe, in which electromagnetic waves are excited in one of the ends of the pipe, receiving them after propagation along the pipe at its other end, excitation of electromagnetic waves is carried out at a fixed frequency in the pipe as in the hollow waveguide, frequency of excited electromagnetic waves is selected to be less than critical frequency of excitation of electromagnetic waves of one of types of waves in pipe, and measuring the amplitude of the received electromagnetic waves of this type of waves, from which the inner diameter of the metal tube is determined. Frequency of excited electromagnetic waves can be selected lower than critical frequency of excitation of electromagnetic waves of type H01 in pipe.
EFFECT: technical result observed during implementation of disclosed solution is expansion of functional capabilities of measurement method.
