FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of reactivating spent activated carbon includes drying at 280-350°C and heat treatment in the presence of water vapor. First, the heat treatment is conducted in the presence of steam at 350-700°C with 3-7°C/min temperature rise rate. The heat treatment is then carried out at 750-850°C when feeding water vapor at the rate of 0.4-0.8 dm3/min.
EFFECT: invention allows to increase the adsorption capacity of waste carbon and to use reactivated carbon for purifying air from benzene vapor.
