FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method consists in deploying detection device (DD) at the intersection location of three roads so that its detection zone (DZ) crosses all three roads and its axis is shifted relative to the intersection location of the three roads so that the ratio of the lengths of road sections located in the detection zone is 1:5:5; initializing alarm DD if an intruder crosses its DZ; analysing the sign of the Doppler addition of the reflected signal frequency at the output of the DD signal processing circuit during the entire residence time of the intruder in its DZ; subsequent application of the algorithm for determining the movement direction of the intruder, wherein the reflected signal is divided into two time intervals differing in the value of the Doppler frequency addition and (or) its sign; analysing belonging of the ratio of values of Doppler frequency addition of the first and second intervals of the reflected signal to one of the three ranges, calculated analytically with regard for angles, at which the intruder moves to the DZ axis, and for his movement speed non-uniformity; analysing belonging of the duration ratio of the first and second signal time intervals to one of the three ranges, calculated analytically with regard for ratio of road section lengths located in DZ, and for movement speed non-uniformity of the intruder. The method includes the preparatory stage with the deployment according to the developed scheme of the DD and the main stage, which begins from the moment of the intruder's entry into the DZ of the DD during which he is detected and the direction of his movement is determined.

EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of indicating the direction of motion of the detected intruder with the use of only one detection device.
