FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process of preparation of LSI (2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5-octafluoropentyl) carbonate, used as a solvent, as a component of chemical compositions, for example to form electrolytes of chemical current sources. The method comprises sequentially treating 2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5-octafluoropentanol-1 with a titanium (IV) alkoxide and diphenyl carbonate, followed by distilling LSI (2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5-oxafluoropentyl) carbonate at atmospheric pressure.
EFFECT: method is carried out using the minimum quantities of commercially available and non-toxic reagents.
