FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: camshaft is designed for a multi-cylinder four-stroke internal combustion engine. The camshaft comprises a plurality of exhaust cams that are spaced along the longitudinal axis of the camshaft. The exhaust cams are arranged such that at least one outlet cam is connected to each engine cylinder (121), (122), (123), (124). Each exhaust cam is configured to actuate the exhaust valve of its respective cylinder (121), (122), (123), (124) when the camshaft rotates. The peak lift of the first exhaust cam is offset at an angle relative to the peak lift of the second exhaust cam by the cam rotation angle which is greater than the angle determined by the total revolution of the camshaft divided by the number of engine cylinders. The second exhaust cam is connected to the actuating cylinder following the cylinder connected to the first exhaust cam. The next trigger cylinder associated with the second outlet cam is a cylinder physically adjacent to the cylinder associated with the first outlet cam. A multi-cylinder engine using a camshaft is disclosed.
EFFECT: overcoming emission of exhaust gases from one cylinder to another cylinder.
