FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: 3D seismic survey method continuously compares thickness between a cap and a bottom of the Visean Stage to varying depths of the Visean Stage bottom. The parameters for slope conditions are determined from a change in sandstones thickness and used for distinguishing sand bodies in the Visean Stage sediments regardless of their depth and complexity. The limiting factors are determined to compare thickness between the cap and the bottom of the Visean stage to varying depths of the Visean Stage bottom and between crystallised foundation surface and the Visean stage cap. Based on results of said limiting factors ratio for slope conditions, parameters of sandstones thickness change are determined, under which high-yield oil formations are defined among sand bodies of the Visean Stage. Based on the difference between the limiting factor and the thickness between the cap and the bottom of the Visean stage, the parameter changes for sandstones thickness values of upstructure conditions in the Visean Stage are determined. A drilling location for a first exploration well is determined as per the highest values of standstone thickness parameters change within the development of high-yield oil formations.

EFFECT: improving efficiency of direct search for high-yield oil formations in complex structure oil deposits.
