SUBSTANCE: method is achieved through calculations for selected discrete range of N distance values from the equivalent antenna phase center to the point of synthesizing respective sets of radar images (RI) of the object, estimation of the entropy values for each RI, selection of the distance value with the minimum entropy, formation of the new, smaller in N time, discrete distance range values of the equivalent antenna phase center to the point of synthesizing the minimum neighbourhood distance with minimum entropy and cyclic repetition of the calculations. The output from the iterative cycle is performed after the set value of the decrease in the entropy of the RI is reached at the current and previous iterations.

EFFECT: iterative improvement of the RI focusing and a decrease in the entropy of radar images until the potential resolution is achieved by successively refining the distance from the equivalent phase center of the antenna to the synthesization point.
