FIELD: radar measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in compact radar measuring complexes (stands) with multi-frequency pulse sensing measuring units that construct two-dimensional radar images (RI) of objects under study using inverse synthesis of the antenna aperture. The claimed includes clarifying the coordinates of the elements of the matrix of synthesized responses to compensate for geometric distortions of the radar image taking into account the known distance from the centre of the radar system antenna to the synthesis centre, recording the signal power values reflected from an isotropically scattering probe installed instead of the object at the synthesis centre and moving along circles with a radius changing in equal increments up to half the maximum size of the object, obtaining a two-dimensional matrix of the energy decay of the measuring field and using it to refine the response values in each element of the two-dimensional matrix of synthesized responses.

EFFECT: refinement of estimates of the coordinates of the locations and radar cross-section (RCS) of scattering centre on radar images during measurements in the near-field location.
