FIELD: measurement.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radar measuring equipment and can be used on radar measuring systems (stands) with coherent measuring installations of multifrequency pulse probing, performing construction of two-dimensional radar images (RI) of investigated objects using inverse synthesis of the antenna aperture. Claimed method comprises conversion of all recorded samples of signal reflected from object, determination of RI of an object in form of a set of all elements of a two-dimensional matrix of synthesized complex responses, conversion of a two-dimensional matrix of synthesized complex responses using a direct two-dimensional Fourier transform into a two-dimensional matrix of complex envelopes in coordinates of spatial frequencies, and formation of a two-dimensional matrix of complex envelopes in polar coordinates of change of carrier frequency and angle of observation.

EFFECT: reduced error in determining the effective scattering area (ESA) of an object from ESA and phase diagrams reconstructed from its two-dimensional RI.
