POWDER INHALER Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC A61M15/00

Abstract RU 2629241 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: inhaler is a dry powder inhaler, the capsule (C) of which operates in horizontal position. The inhaler contains a hollow body (1) of oval section. The inhaler includes a plug-in receiver (2A) of the capsule installed in the lower half of the body (1), rotatable together with the cover (2B). The receiver has means for pivoting and exposing the socket (3) for capsule (C) insertion. The capsule comprises a medicament and means for returning the capsule receptacle to its original position. The inhaler contains a mouthpiece (4) at the top of the main body. The mouthpiece is closed by a cap (5), and there are lateral shanks (6) on its underside. The shanks are slidably connected to a vertical tubular guide (7), which moves the mouthpiece downward and outward by means of coil springs (8 and 9). Downward movement is carried out with a force exceeding the springs force, and the upward movement occurs under the influence of coil springs (8 and 9). The inhaler contains a punching gun (10) to open the capsule (C) attached to the inner side of the mouthpiece (4). The punching gun moves along with the mouthpiece (4) and has a means consisting of a pair of vertical needles (11). The sharp ends of the needles (11) radially perforate the ends of the capsule (C), forming holes for drug exit. The inhaler includes a flow guide tube (12) located centrally inside the mouthpiece (4) and a vertical guide (7). The upper edge of the guide ends in the mouthpiece (4), adjusting the mouthpiece position by means of a flange (13). The lower part has a screen-like structure (14) forming the roof of the chamber (15). Between the deagglomeration chamber (15) and the upper edge of the mouthpiece (4), a vertical passage (16) is formed for the air and drug flow. The deagglomeration chamber (15) has a secondary air inlet (17) located tangentially between the walls of the capsule receptacle (2A) and the main body (1). The body has primary air inlet holes (18) and an air pocket (19). An auxiliary passage (20) is formed between the air pocket (19) and the upper edge of the mouthpiece (4). The passage (20) extends parallel to the vertical passage (16), forming an additional flow of air for mixing with the main inhalation flow in the mouthpiece (4). The additional flow is mixed with a stream formed by inhalation from the air in the pocket (19) and entering the inhaler through the primary air intake holes (18).

EFFECT: creation of an additional air flow, parallel to the main air flow, which helps to balance the inhalation resistance and the profile of precipitation in lungs.
