FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst for cleaning hydrogen-enriched gas mixtures from carbon oxide by selective methanation of carbon oxide. The catalyst contains a cobalt-cesium oxide system containing chlorine in its composition. The catalyst is prepared by the reaction of cobalt compounds with compounds of cerium and chlorine. The method for cleaning hydrogen-enriched gas mixtures from carbon oxide is carried out by selective methanation of carbon oxide at a temperature of at least 20°C and a pressure of not less than 0.1 atm, the catalyst described above is used as the catalyst.
EFFECT: effective cleaning of hydrogen-enriched gas mixtures to a CO content level of less than 100 ppm.
