FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst, its preparation method and a method of hydrogenating carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide. The invention describes a catalyst for hydrogenating carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide, which contains a group II or group III chemical element and is a Cu-Fe-M1-M2 oxide system, where M1 is a group II or group III element and M2 is a group III or group IV element. Described also is a method of preparing a catalyst for hydrogenating carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide in which the catalyst is prepared through successive or simultaneous mixture of Cu, Fe, M1 and M2 compounds and/or their solutions in any combination and sequence and further holding in an oxidative atmosphere e.g. air, in an inert atmosphere e.g. nitrogen or a reductive atmosphere e.g. in a mixture of CO and H2. A Cu-Fe-M1-M2 oxide system is formed as a result. Described also is a method of hydrogenating carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide in the presence of the catalyst described above or a catalyst prepared using the method described above.

EFFECT: obtaining a gaseous mixture with given H2/CO ratio.
