SUBSTANCE: device of an ophthalmological lens with a variable optical insert contains an insert sealing layer containing an optical and a non-optical zone; a variable optical insert, at least, a part of which is located within the optical zone and comprises a layer of liquid crystal material; a power source integrated in the sealing insert and, at least, the first layer of the dielectric material in the immediate vicinity of the layer of the liquid crystal material that varies in thickness in the region of the optical zone.
EFFECT: ability to control the refractive characteristics of the lens by changing the electric field due to the varying thickness of the dielectric layer.
