FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: duration of an induced threshold apnea is determined three times every 10 minutes. The arithmetic mean value of the apnea duration of three samples is calculated. With a duration of the induced threshold apnea of less than 30 seconds, high sensitivity of the peripheral chemoreflex corresponding to more than 0.5 l/min/mmHg is determined. With the duration of the induced threshold apnea from 30 seconds to 60 seconds, average sensitivity of the peripheral chemoreflex corresponding to the range from 0.2 to 0.5 l/min/mmHg is determined. With a duration of the induced threshold apnea of more than 60 seconds, low sensitivity of the peripheral chemoreflex corresponding to less than 0.2 l/min/mmHg is determined.
EFFECT: allows non-invasive and safe real-time evaluation of the peripheral chemoreflex sensitivity.
