FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: during the mobilization of the thyroid gland, structures with parathyroid gland characteristics are revealed: the diametre of 4-6 mm, the presence of a clear capsule and vessels feeding them, light brown colour, elastic consistency. A "stress test" is carried out - the detected structures are affected by tapping with a tip of the instrument 4-6 times. After 2-4 minutes, their appearance is assessed. If the structures with altered colour are detected and hyperemia is present on the surface with the injection of vessels, they are defined as parathyroid glands.
EFFECT: method allows to quickly and effectively visualize the parathyroid glands, providing prevention of postoperative hypoparathyroidism.
