FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: declared invention refers to medicine, namely to surgery, and can be used for intraoperative identification of altered parathyroid glands (PTG). For this purpose, the patient is once administered 5-aminolevulinic acid in dose of 10 mg/kg of body weight not earlier than 120 minutes and not later than 720 minutes before the operation, which is carried out by irradiating an operating field with polarized blue light at wave length 395–405 nm for detecting fluorescence. If observing fluorescent formations in the area of irradiated tissues, the new growths are removed with their subsequent urgent histological examination. If observing the glandular epithelial hyperplasia, the unchanged portion of the parathyroid glands is re-implanted into the forearm muscle of the forearm.
EFFECT: method enables increasing the surgical intervention effectiveness by 100 % probability of visualizing PTG tissue with reducing complications by single administration of the preparation in a small volume and broader possibility of surgical intervention due to a high time interval.
