FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: ultrasonic matrix sensors were proposed for a reliable perception of presence. Systems and methods in which additional perceptual functionalities may be possible to offer new control functions with a matrix sensor as a basic perception platform are disclosed. In particular, we consider: hybrid perception, which combines portable sensors (possibly with user's permission) and sensors with fixed infrastructure. Applications, for example, are active presence sensors in lighting control applications.
EFFECT: increased efficiency while reducing energy consumption in buildings.
