FIELD: machine engineering.

SUBSTANCE: method for placing the film in tray comprising the tray with a bottom, a vertical wall, a tray opening and an annular flange extending outward and consisting of at least two adjoining sections; providing the film having at least the dimensions corresponding to outer dimensions of the annular flange; heating of a central zone of the film. Pressing the heated central zone of the film to the bottom, the vertical wall and at least partially over the flange. The edge of the center zone to be heated passes along boundaries between adjacent sections. An intermediate product contains film placed freely over the tray flange. The device comprises a mould for placing the tray, a means for placing the film over the mould, a heating means comprising a plate which is placed over the mould for heating the film, and means for drawing the film into the mould.

EFFECT: obtaining air-tight sealing of the heated section edge and the flange.
