SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a folding package for airtight packaging of food products, containing a tray bent from a separate sheet of material, preferably cardboard, wherein said tray has at least two adjacent parts of the tray and each part of the tray has a lower wall and vertical walls located around the peripheral edge of the lower wall, wherein at least two adjacent parts of the tray are hingedly interconnected along the upper edge of the corresponding vertical wall so that said at least two adjacent parts of the tray can be rotated on a hinge, are connected on top of each other to form a closed box, a peripheral horizontal flange located on the tray at least on some of the upper edges of the vertical walls, and a protective plastic film located in parts of the tray and continuing on the peripheral horizontal flange and substantially covering the flange, wherein the peripheral horizontal flange has a sealing area extending along the entire length of the flange, wherein the sealing area is linearly symmetrical along the hinge line by the upper edge of the connected walls, so that no transitions overlap with each other when at least two adjacent parts of the tray are rotated on a hinge one over another.
