FIELD: sealing a cardboard tray covered with plastic foil.

SUBSTANCE: method for top sealing a cardboard tray covered with plastic foil. Said method includes the following steps: providing a carton tray with a bottom, walls, protruding upwards, located along the periphery of the bottom, and a horizontal flange located at the upper edges of the upward protruding walls, the inside of the carton tray being covered with plastic foil, which extends at least over a horizontal flange; placing a carton tray in a bottom part of a sealing tool having a collapsible support part, wherein at least the horizontal flange is supported by a collapsible support part of the lower part of the sealing tool; placing a protective foil over the cardboard tray placed in the lower part of the sealing tool to cover the opening of the tray defined by the upper edges of the upward protruding walls; pressing the heated upper part of the sealing tool against the lower part of the sealing tool, wherein the protective foil, plastic foil pads and the horizontal flange are pressed together to seal the protective foil on the plastic foil lining along the entire length of the horizontal flange, and taking into account the pressing direction, the overlapping zone of the lining of plastic foil, protective foil and compressible support element extends at least partially outside the surface of the horizontal flange.
