FIELD: automotive industry.

SUBSTANCE: stud is meant to be used on the tire. The stud contains: the housing 1, that is immersed in the tire tread and the wear-resistant element 2, that is disposed, projecting outwardly at one end of the housing onto the tire tread surface. The housing contains the main body of the stud 3 and the flange 4. The main body of the stud accepts the linearly symmetrical shape with two axes of symmetry A and B, which are perpendicular to each other. The flange accepts the linearly symmetrical shape, having at least one axis of symmetry. The flange axis of symmetry, on the axial direction of which the flange projection has the maximum length, is taken as the longitudinal axis of symmetry C, and the maximum length of the flange projection in the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of symmetry C will be shorter, than the flange projection length on the longitudinal axis of symmetry C. The lengths of the stud main body projection on the axis of symmetry A and B are accepted equal to La and Lb respectively, and the stud main body projection length on the axis of symmetry A satisfies the expression La≥Lb, then the axis of symmetry A and the longitudinal axis of symmetry C of the flange are generally extended in the same direction.

EFFECT: improved driving and braking performances at the ice and snow-covered pavements, as well as increased stud resistance to breaking off.
