SUBSTANCE: invention relates to scanning array photodetector devices (SAPD) that convert an input optical image formed by an objective to a specified spectral range, and then to an output electrical video signal by scanning an image. The SAPD includes N channels and obeys the specified criterion of defectiveness in the threshold photoelectric characteristic, the probability of failure-free operation, the number and location of defective and inoperative channels, while maintaining a predetermined probability of its failure-free operation. In order to obtain the set value of the SAPD useful life while preserving its defectiveness criterion, the number of photosensitive elements (PSE) in the channel is increased to a predetermined value determined by the average operating time of the PSE before failure and the threshold photoelectric characteristic.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the operating time of the matrix photodetector device.
