FIELD: machine engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method includes heating of article surface layer with locally concentrated energy source with subsequent cooling by removing the heat into article body. The article surface layer is heated in vacuum and vacuum-arc discharge is used as locally concentrated energy source, wherein a cathode spot formed as result of the vacuum-arc discharge is moved along the inner cylindrical surface of the article at a rate up to 100 m/s.
EFFECT: invention provides simplicity and high efficiency of the process, quality of produced products due to elimination of processes of decarburization and oxidation, and promotes expansion of list of treated products due to treatment of articles of complex geometric forms.
