FIELD: metal treatment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparing the surface of a metal product to obtain roughness on its surface before applying a coating. The metal product is placed in a vacuum chamber of a technological vacuum installation, which ensures roughness on the surface of the product. The surface of the product is treated in a vacuum with a concentrated flow of energy localized in cathode spots of a vacuum-arc discharge moving along the surface of the product, burning between the product, which is the cathode and the anode. The specified surface treatment of the product is carried out by alternating changes in the vacuum-arc discharge current and pressure in the vacuum chamber. The current value is varied in the range from the minimum critical value characteristic of the metal of the metal product being processed to the maximum current value provided by the arc discharge power source of the specified technological vacuum installation. The pressure in the vacuum chamber is varied from 0.1 to 103 Pa.
EFFECT: it is possible to obtain a given microrelief size with an expanded range of roughness sizes.
