SUBSTANCE: protection period for switching between the upstream and downstream subframes is formed by reducing the subframe of the downstream transmission channel, i.e. by not transmitting during one or more symbol intervals at the end of one subframe. The grant message includes signals indicating when the reduced subframe is transmitted. An exemplary method is implemented in a receiving node configured to receive data from a transmission node in subframes having a predetermined number of symbol intervals. In an LTE system, such a receiving node may be a UE, and the subframes are subframes of a downstream transmission channel. Such an exemplary method includes the following stages: determining that the received subframe is to be reduced relative to the predetermined number of symbol intervals, and in response to such determination, the last part of the received subframe is discarded by discarding one or more symbols at the end of the received subframe when processing the received subframe.

EFFECT: use of improved technologies for switching between the downstream and upstream transmission channels in a dynamic TDD system.
