SUBSTANCE: capsule (1) comprises a cup-shaped housing (2) with a projecting upper flange (2a), a side wall (2b), a flexible bottom wall (2c) and a flexible cover (3) welded to the flange (2a) to form an airtight chamber (4) comprising a portion of granulated material (5), in particular roast ground coffee, for preparing a beverage. The granulated material (5) is pre-compressed in a chamber (4) to form a tight compressed section, and a vacuum is created in the chamber (4) to such an extent that the cover (3) moves to the upper surface of this section and has the property of joining the upper surface of this section. Between the flange (2a) and the bottom wall (2c), the side wall (2b) of the cup-shaped housing (2) has an annular step (2f), which provides local reduction of the chamber (4) section in the direction of the lower wall (2c). This step (2f) is located closer to the bottom wall (2c) of the cup-shaped housing (2) than to the flange (2a) and provides the local reduction of the chamber (4) section at least by 25%. The bottom wall (2c) of the cup-shaped housing (2) can be deformed by the medium fed into the capsule (1), displacing aside from the cover (3).
