FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: radiation detecting unit contains an ionization chamber for detecting radiation. The outer case accommodates the ionization chamber in its internal volume. A pair of supporting structures supports the ionization chamber with respect to the outer case. The supporting structures are opposite each other on the surface of the ionization chamber in such a way that the ionization chamber is arranged symmetrically with respect to the axis passing between the supporting structures.
EFFECT: increasing the sensitivity to gamma radiation of the radiation detecting unit.
