SUBSTANCE: method for restoring a firmware on a terminal is disclosed, having an activated first storage area for storing the firmware most recently executed by the terminal and an inactivated second storage area for storing the spare firmware, the method comprising the steps of: receiving a recovery signal for restoring the firmware at the terminal; deactivating the first storage area and activating the second storage area; downloading the firmware stored in the activated second storage area; sending a request to the server to obtain the latest terminal firmware; accepting the latest firmware returned by the server; determining the states of the first storage area and the second storage area; if the first storage area is activated and the second storage area is inactivated, the firmware stored in the inactivated second storage area is updated with the latest firmware; deactivating the first storage area and activating the second storage area without updating the firmware stored in the first storage area; and if the second storage area is activated and the first storage area is inactivated, the firmware stored in the inactivated first storage area is updated with the latest firmware; deactivating the second storage area and activating the first storage area without updating the firmware stored in the second storage area.
