FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of pulse-periodic plasma coating formation with a diffusion layer of molybdenum carbide on a molybdenum product includes the generation of plasma by a continuous vacuum arc discharge and the formation of a diffusion layer in the pulse-periodic acceleration of ions from the plasma flow. The formation of the said coating on the workpiece is carried out by successive applying pulses of variable polarity voltage forming pulse currents of accelerated ions and electrons while providing heating of the product to a temperature of 700-1000 K over a time interval (te34) corresponding to the duration of the pulses of the electron current arriving at the product and the deposition of accelerated ions of the plasma flow over a time interval (ti12) corresponding to the duration of the ion current pulses delivered to the product, while setting the ratio (te34)≥ (ti12).
EFFECT: production of coatings of high quality with the achievement of a high growth rate of the formed coating and, as a result, an increase in the operational properties of the products to be processed.
