FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: composition advantageously contains, at least, 30 wt % of untreated olivine with coarse particles containing forsterite in an amount of, for example, at least, 70 wt % and having particle sizes greater than 0.1 mm; at least, 35 wt % of magnesium oxide in the form of flour with a particle size of < 1 mm; silicon carbide in the form of flour with a particle size of < 1 mm; up to 10 wt % of fine-disperse silicic acid and up to 10 wt % of antioxidant. The composition is used in a mixture with 2-10 wt % of the silica powder in the form of moulded bricks or fire-resistant casting material, in which water is added to achieve the necessary plasticity.
EFFECT: improving the resistance of refractories to melts of fayalite slags and to the effect of sulfates at the temperature of application.
