FIELD: ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of ferrous metallurgy, in particular to slag-modifying materials for processing steel in a steel-pouring ladle. The slag modifier consists of minerals - brucite, serpentine and olivine with a total share of more than 80 wt.% and has a chemical composition, wt.%: magnesium oxide 45.0-65.0, calcium oxide 0.4-5.0, silicon oxide 1.0-12.0, iron oxide 0.1-5.0, loss on ignition 23.0-33 0, sulfur less than 0.03, impurities the rest.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to create a modifier with a limited sulfur content in the composition, having increased dispersion and speed of interaction with the slag melt, providing an increase in the durability of the steel-pouring ladle lining, and also contributing to a decrease in the content of non-metallic inclusions in the steel in the form of sulfur and nitrogen.
